I need a figure explains one the mechanisms proposed for calcium carbonate CaCO3 inhibition using scale inhibitions (antiscalants) in water systems. There are three mechanisms for scale inhibition:
1- Threshold Inhibition Effect
2- Crystal Distortion Effect
3- Dispersion mechanism
I need paper name or book reference or the figure itself.

The use of magnetic effect lowers the scaling by changing the cristal system. It don't aggregates as calcite.
I have experienced calcite scaling. In some case, you may also need to understand the other compounds. If you have a have high mix with chloride ions and sulfur, a good anti scaling agent is sodium thiosulfate. Understanding the other the mix of other compounds may help to determine the best method.

I have been working on the study of the mechanisms of calcite scale inhibition in oil industry, and the design of scale inhibitors. Essentially all inhibitors interact with the calcium ion, thus avoiding a chemical reaction between the bicarbonate and calcium ion pair for calcite precipitation. However the mechanism is completely tied to the ionic strength of the aqueous medium and pH, temperature and pressure conditions. Furthermore, depending on the type of species, including magnesium, barium, strontium, etc., then it is necessary to reformulate the inhibitor in order to be selective.
