I am looking for empirical studies (questionnaires, interviews, econometric analyses...) that study time allocation by farmers, preferably in EU countries. I am less interested in time allocation between farming and off-farm activities, and more in how time consuming farming itself is and how much time is spent on each activity (say, field management, tending to the animals, bureaucratic stuff...). Does anybody know any studies on that?
This isn't quite what you are looking for, but there may be some broad info provided that you might find useful (it includes data on agriculture). I have a more on point reference in mind, but can't locate it at the moment. I will forward your way as soon as I find it.

These are interesting papers but none of them tackles the question I have: what is the allocation of time for on-farm labour (most studies focus on off-farm, possibly because this is much easier to measure) in industrialised countries, preferably EU, preferably in recent years (since the bureaucratic load has likely increased over the last 2 decades).

Thanks. This comes close to what I've been looking for. However, it is focused on work on the field, while my actual interest is in the trade-off between this and "bureaucratic stuff" (applications, reports, statistics, whatever); also, in this context, I'd need current data, as the bureaucratic load is driven by current legislation.
