The Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLRS), also known as the Learning Preference Assessment (LPA), was developed by Dr. Lucy M. Guglielmino in 1977 to measure learners' attitudes of and propensity for self-directed learning and has been used extensively since then. Here is the developer's own website on the instrument:

Merriam, Caffarella, & Baumgartner (2007) say it is the most extensively used instrument to measure self-directed learning, but it has been 13 years since they said that so I am wondering if there is anything new that has been used recently, and I'm also just wondering in general what alternatives to this instrument there might be.
