Hello Everyone, I tried to form ZnS nanoparticles using the hot injection method and was able to form the same (confirmed by XRD).
When I centrifuged, after the reaction I got a kind of white powder. I kept the centrifuged sample in a centrifuge tube and left it in the rack. After a day I don't know what exactly happened to it, it became pasty or liquidish (attached image). Can you please explain what might have happened?
( I feel it is moisture sensitive and has trapped the moisture)

Yes, ZnS is moisture sensitive (especially in the presence of acid) and oxidizes to sulfate. Analyze your white powder by XRD. The sulfide may also be reacting with the polymer in your tubes.

I do not understand your remark. Sulfides can react with polymers and your picture appears to show this. If you are making ZnS in the presence of any oxygen containing species (in the presence of air or water), or storing in air or in the presence of moisture, then you'll have significant oxide and sulfate formation over time.
Did you carry out XRD on the white powder?
