Most of the Post graduate pharmaceutical studies in Rasashastra have been analytically studied if you can compile.The latest instrument used was XRD , XRF , AAS to analyse the changes before and after samskaras or procedures.Well, IIT Mumbai has been working since years on many Bhasmas, it would be good if they can take such projects too.Even these instruments are not enough to come to a right conclusion but it did help to test the variance in graphs of the change from inorganic to organo metallic or mineral molecules.

If, classical ayurvedic metallic preparation are made following strict rules dictated in classical text, then is is already non toxic and no need to detoxifyng. But if there is compromise regarding preparation method, it may seens to be toxic. In such case these medicine are not properly prepared and need to discard. Also properly made rasa preparation have no toxic effect, and it has been clearly proved by several research paper ( you must visit google, pubmed etc). Also we have several MD and Ph.D thesis in our department ( Department of Rasa Shastra, Ayurveda, IMS, BHU) that are evidence of nontoxicity of properly rasa preparation. 

Yes, the instrument like AAS etc giving the % of metal in formulation but these metal are not in free form or pure metallic form mean while it has been changed in its derivatives viz HgS to alpha HgS in Rasa Sindur bit when you measure by AAS/ICP it will show HgS. So there is difference in energy state of the molecule HgS. This conversion is due to a systematic and thermodynamicaly driven process of puta and other related process. You musy go for this

US patent 6939567 filed entitled Pharmaceutical Ayurvedic preparation pertain to a process of Ayurvedic preparation for treatment of leukemia without any side effect using metals, like silver, mercury, sulphur, and arsenic trisulphide and the method employed in the state patient for the preparation of bhasma using citrus juice-  this indicate that  athentification of detoxification method of calssical Ayurvedic mineral based (Rasa) preparations
