In India, some prestigious institutions rewarding their scientists/researchers by giving increments in salary or by paying some substantial money per quality publication. It is on the basis of publications in standards Journals indexed on SCOPUS and having impact factor, Etc.
But this practice is not operational in University system.

Some universities reward scientists through promotion pegged on research output, others offer research grants to their scientists. However, most African universities are lagging behind on this front.

Same thing apply here, in Iraq & in most Arab countries, but I think it is not justice, especially if the scientist/ researcher invents something new and the university / research center commercialize it or license it !!!! I am looking for bylaws and regulations regarding incentives and rewards for inventors/scientists in research centers or universities that would be fair for all (university/research center and the inventor).

There are some incentives and rewards regarding inventors /scientists for their work in Research Centers/Institutions/Universities:
Sponsoring for expenses for presenting and attending the conferences;
Sponsoring the future research projects based upon past contributions;
Allowing to use official infrastructure for the research;
Some amount of money for publication in Journals having impact factor;
Some money per conference for presenting paper;
Promotion/Increments in salary giving weight to publication/research contributions in annual assessment system (like API system);
Non-monetary awards for best paper, review, research work assessed annually;
Recognition on organizational/state/country/international level;
and so on..........................

Dear Hazim, I am not very certain if scientists or researchers are the ones who really make the most benefit. It seems to be that scientists do the hard work, and then the Businesses reap the rewards. From mobile (I will be back.)
My faculty has a system for rewarding for high-quality publications (depending on the ISI Web of Science Impact Factor: the highest sum for the journals with a factor above 2) and also for applying for grants (1/3 when the application is submitted, and an additional 2/3 in case it will get financing).
In a certain 3rd world university, an old senior lecturer was rewarded once with 300 $ for research activity in 31 years of service. In a developed country, a professor in mechanical engineering invented a small device in a research center to be used in cars & he was awarded 50,000 $. The company told him that each time he adds something, he will be generously rewarded.
Formalize and enhance opportunities and incentives for researchers to have flexibility in moving between academia, industry, and government.
R&D funding agencies should continue to explore options, through grants and various fellowships, for providing researches with the flexibility to engage in sabbaticals and career transitions between academia, government, and the private sector.

This is not applicable in India. Even best University is not rewarding their scientists, specifically in Government sector.
