I am pretty new in RNA-field and I want to do RNA extraction and RNA-Seq later on. However, I am a bit confused about the difference between the qiagen RNeasy mini spin columns in RNeasy plus mini kit and in miRNAeasy mini kit.
I understood that the major difference is what RNA population you are eluting, but how exactly it works? I mean, the buffers and the columns are almost same in these two kits.
Would be really helpful If anyone can answer.

all three kits are different in its pore size, the silicon matrix is more complex inb miRNA kit in comparison to RNA.. obviosuly as miRNAs are smaller than total RNA so the pore size should be small
The difference between RNeasy Mini kits and RNeasy Plus Mini is that the Plus doesn't require an on column DNase treatment. Both columns trap most gDNA with the silica filter, but a plain RNeasy kit usually has an extra step using: https://www.qiagen.com/us/shop/lab-basics/enzymes/rnase-free-dnase-set#orderinginformation
As far as the miRNeasy kit, I wonder if you are confusing it with the RNeasy Micro kit which is the same as RNeasy Mini kit, but it is more appropriate for smaller volumes (single cell or small tissue).
The miRNeasy kit is a separate line from RNeasy designed specifically for microRNAs, and have their own different tiers (ie. miRNeasy Mini kit, miRNeasy Micro kit).
If you are not working with microRNAs I can vouch for the RNeasy Plus Mini kits for Illumina HiSeq RNAseq since it circumvents the need for another reagent and an additional digestion period, though the RNeasy Mini kit works fine as well.
The yield is also different. Unless you need small RNA extraction, conventional kit is the best choice.
The RNA columns (RNeasy MinElute) are exactly the same between the RNeasy Micro Plus and RNeasy Micro.
What is the difference between RNeasy Mini kit and RNeasy Micro kit? Which one will be useful for isolating RNA from a specific tissue of zebrafish?
