Yes, FGM's are now in use in many fields such as nuclear energy, defence, biomedical, aerospace, energy based, semiconductor and cutting tools to name a few. There are different FGM combinations of material can be employed like metal-metal,metal-ceramic,ceramic-ceramic, but while reviewing I found mostly liked combination is metal-ceramic because ceramics can be used at elevated temperatures as well.Another category is the manufacturing route by which these materials are fabricated; out of these powder metallurgy is a method with which complex shapes can also be fabricated, hence, this method has a good scope in future. I have done a review of FGM's fabricated using powder metallurgy method in "A review on application of FGM fabricated using solid-state processes" in which I listed the material combinations along with the their applications and their processing parameter.The work can be used as a database for further study.
