I am curious to know about microalgae cultivation in Photo bioreactor, specially about Chlorella species. In journal articles I found a lot of works done on Chlorella vulgaris and Chlorella sp. I want to know that, if I study one or two Chlorella species, will it give me an overall understanding of the optiml value of temperature, pH, nutrients, growth rate and productivity, lipid content of all Chlorella species or for each Chlorella like Chlorella vulgaris or Chlorella sp or Chlorella sorokiniana ; optimal values of growth parameters will be different?

Each species has its own requirement and its own optimal growth conditions because its metabolic manifestation is the historical product of the ecological processes that occur in the locality in which it is found.
They may even appear large differences between two populations of the same species whose proliferation is under very different conditions.
For example, in a wide distribution area: population growing in a humid temperate climate will require different growing conditions of the same species population growing in a humid warm climate or subhumid temperate climate.
Remember that the members of the same genus are so because they share the same ancestor. That is, they originally shared the same genetic stock that has been differentiated in the evolutionary process, influenced by the conditions of its proliferation area. They do not belong to the same genus because they have the same or even very similar requirements.

You will also find that within a given species the optimal conditions will change dependent on e.g. the culture condition. I have used batch culture, chemostat as well as turbidostat culturing of mostly C. reinhardtii and this will result in fairly large differences of a number of parameters, including maximum growth rate. Also, some parameters in themselves will result in drastic changes of several biochemical parameters. Increase the light or change the light quality and you might think you are looking at two different species. Inhave seen this both in Chlorella as well as in cyanobacteria. Essentially, stress perceived is a driving force to rebalance towards homeostasis of the organism, thus changi g the optimum of measured parameters.

The simple answer is No. Algal physiology and growth behavior are very sensitive to the environmental and growth conditions. Different species of the same genus may show completely different growth and cellular content under the same conditions. Even within the same species, you might record different growth behavior for different populations. It is better to decide which species you want to perform your study and focus only on those selected species.

Each species has its own specific parameters as far as conditions and ecological conditions even the same species differ in parameters as conditions and growth factors differs.Depends on the species you want to work on you better choose and control the conditions and environmental conditions and growth factors to do your study.

Adding to what has already been said, the volume of inoculum used is also an important parameter to be maintained through different experiments together with environmental and operational characteristics as the consumption of nutrient, accumulation of biomass and formation of metabolites are directly affected by it.
Results form our laboratory indicate that the types of lipids produced by different microalgae species at a specific growth stage as fairly consistent different species of green algae.

It will vary a lot. For instance, we are using a species of chlorella which grows in saline media. However, the majority of chlorella species are adapted to grow in fresh media. The experimental condition is highly dependant on the growth condition in original habitat of the microalgae.
as Matin Hanifzadeh said its depends on the adaptation of the algae to the environmental conditions. if its adapted to a specific condition, it will grow optimally sometimes by switching its biochemical composition.
