Can bacteria isolated from the gut of a marine fish be termed as marine bacteria? In other words, are these bacteria regarded as bacteria of marine environment?Are such bacteria similar to those isolated from sea water or sediment under sea water (which are usually called the marine bacteria)?
Sea water or sediment under the sea water are also a part of the marine environment. It is unlikely that marine fish will consume non-marine bacteria since freshwater microbes won't survive in salty environment (except some in the estuarine environment). In the most likelihood, bacteria isolated from the gut of marine fish will be marine bacteria. You can run check on them by testing their salt requirements to see if they are marine or not.
Use Zobell marine agar (kind of gold standard) to test if those bacteria are Marine or not.
@Hossain Hossain, You can technically call them marine . But my point of concern is that when you've isolated marine bacteria you must have used Zobell or similar media (simple Nutrient agar with addition of salt can serve the purpose). Marine microbes are isolated using media, supplemented with salt (unless the media, such as Zobell, has salt in the original composition).
yes! you can say it is as marine bacteria. I have isolated marine bacteria which is associated with coral. Although it is inside the gut of fish, its environment is ocean. And also you can further culture it in marine agar to make confirm its salt tolarance.
