I have some doubts about the numbers of glial cells in the CNS since most articles have claimed during the past decades that astrocytes are the most abundant cell type in the brain, but there are some controversies indicating that astrocytes might account for only 20% of all glial cells in the grey matter of the human cerebral cortex (Pelvig et al., 2008).
