Call for papers in the thematic landscape issue on Small Sacral Architecture in European Cultural Landscapes in Acta Horticulturae et Regiotecturae journal.
Dear colleagues / landscape specialists, I have been asked to be the guest editor of a monothematic landscape architecture issue of our faculty peer-reviewed scientific journal Acta Horticulturae et Regiotecturae (https://www.degruyter.com/view/j/ahr) to be published in Spring 2019 and I would like to kindly invite you to submit a paper by October 15 2018 latest to this issue. The papers are relatively short (up to 6 A4 pages, with a standard scientific structure), see the guide for authors for more detailed information (https://www.degruyter.com/view/supplement/s13385259_Guide_for_Authors.pdf).
The topic is Small Sacral Architecture in European Cultural Landscapes
It builds upon two national research projects
- Preservation of the Historical Legacy of Small Sacral Architecture in Rural Cultural Landscapes of Dolné Považie
- SacralArch: Preservation of the Historical Legacy and Architectural Diversity of Small Sacral Structures in Cultural Landscapes of Slovakia
I can accommodate 5 papers (6 A4 pages each). Looking forward to receiving interesting manuscripts from different parts of Europe or beyond!

Please can you expand on your expectations of the topic: the historical period considered, the architecture of the sacred artefacts sec or including its landscape architectural setting, the extent/characteristic of the research area (single site, village, multi-village, single landscape, contrasting landscapes ......

Dear Hein, thank you for your initial interest in the issue. The specific focus of the paper is up to you. You can approach it from a chronological point of view and provide an overview of historical development, different periods, etc.; you can focus more on architecture, arts and crafts, materials and physical heritage; or symbolism and spiritual perspective; or the landscape and tree as aspect. The approach can be diverse, but the issue should be all around small sacred / sacral architectural elements in the landscape. If there is an interesting location / village, multi-village etc. you can go more into depth in this area, but you also can provide an overview of different regions / micro-regions, etc. As an inspiration, I am attaching a poster and a recently published paper.

Thanks for informative poster. From the same distance, the pictures in your poster could be taken in Westphalia. In close up, you would see oak instead of horse chestnut, although common in public spaces and more bricks because the location in the NW European sand belt.
