I want to analysis composite under in-plane loading. I have 2 problems
1- I could not choose proper boundary condition. When I applied boundary condition solved by R Jones my results is not same as my theoretical calculation for buckling load.
2- by decreasing mesh element size eigenvalue amount decrease as well. my question is that how much should I continue mesh sensitivity. because it is look like ongoing action .
my analysis details
a=b / 2D analysis / NX-Nastaran / 10 layer / anti-symmetric/
The decrease of the element size, thus the incremenet of the element population, makes models more precise but with a computational time cost... This is basic for any FEM software, the increment of element number leads to precision. You must test your model with different mesh to see in which result your model tends to converge.
The buckling of composite plate is very sensitive to the support conditions unlike isotropic plates. For simple support alone, the result depends on whether the simple support can move horizontally or laterally or not allow to move. R Jones result for antisymmetric plate is for simple supports allow to move horizontally on all edges.
