I did came across your paper and it was relevant since I also need these particles for antibacterial study however I currently cannot go for thermal decomposition synthesis process due to available facilities.

I am wanting to achieve this by co-ppt and chemical reduction means

However, if you have some insight on the particle chemistry and as to what can/cannot work in allowing siver coating onto magnetitie from your experience  so that will be much help

Try using PVP instead of TX-100 as surfactant and stabilizer for obtaining Ag NPs coat on magnetite.

I have been using PVP, that is what the first  paper's protocol mentions to use in order to achieve coated particles in  single step synthesis. No success there.

And Lingaraj, you are suggesting I use silica or PEG coated Iron oxide to achieve Ag coating? I have  had this idea myself as well, however I  am concerned it might effect magnetitie's antibacterial and magnetic saturation.

Surface energy is one of the important parameter to decide core and shell position, like lower surface energy material will occupy the shell. Changing the surface can help in mutual transformation of core-shell nanostructure
