Any reason for why induced FRhK-4 cells did not produced interferon?

Hello everyone,

I transfected FRhK-4 cells with polyic to induce the production of interferon. I collected the supernatant and did the plaque reduction test which showed negative result. I also isolated RNA and converted to cDNA and run gel electrophoresis, using actin as a control. Actin was detected on the gel however, cDNA for the interferon beta showed negative result too. Can someone please explain to me why?
