Though acetylecholine is the first neurotransmitter to be discovered, it has largely been ignored. I would appreciate if anybody sheds some light on "Brain Cholinergic Networks".
The Bain cholinergic network could be divided in two important branches: the modulatory interneurons that you can find in cortex and in basal ganglia: the main cholinergic projection areas: Basalis nucleus of Maynert, which generally projects to the neocortex, the medial septal nuclei, projecting to the hippocampus (dentate gyrus) and the cholinergic nuclei of the reticular formation (e.g. the interpeduncular nucleus). I suggest you to search in punned these areas to review the literature about.
