I bought SW-13 cell line from ATCC. That cell line is adhesive type. On the otherhand when I started to cultivate it was not adhere to bottom. we cultivated the cell line with Leibovitz's L-15 Medium plus 10% FBS at 37oC without CO2 as decribed at ATTC page. cells are still growing in the medium but can not adhere. Any idea?
There are a whole bunch of reasons for cells not adhering. It could be that they've been over trypsinized, or it could be an issue with the tissue culture coating on the plates.
No matter the cause, I'd try coating the plates with poly-L-Lysine to facilitate attachment. This is a cheap solution that has worked really well for me with other cell lines that have trouble attaching.
I'd also be careful about allowing that line to grow in suspension, lest they experience a phenotypic change.

SW-13 cells usually grow as monolayer without great problems, and they detach from substrate when dying, are you sure your cells are alive?
You can also use medium supplemented with L-Glutammine and 10% FBS and cultivate cells in 5% CO2 (this should not be necessary when using L-15 medium, but I guess you can try). Be aware not to grow too many cells in the same flask, because these cells are very sensitive and they tend to detach when confluence exceeds 100%).

Thanks evetbody, this is e newly bought cell line passage number is 1. I am using VWR's flask, maybe I can try another componies one. medium is from ATCC with L-Glu, therefore I did not use extra L-Glu. just add 10% FBS.
