Any idea about LifeGuard Soil Preservation Buffer RNA and his strong smell?

I collected forest-tropical soil samples and immediately put to in LifeGuard Soil Preservation Buffer. I followed all the instructions given by the company. After two weeks, we returned to the lab and opened the samples in LifeGuard Soil Preservation Buffer RNA, which gave off a very strong smell.

Reading the instructions, I noticed that RNA LifeGuard Soil Preservation Buffer should not smell. Has anyone had a similar experience? The Campany where I got the product does not have an answer to this.
