I have interview contents that need NVIVO to compile and provide tools for data analysis and presentation. Need experts to share software application experience, pros and cons, advantages and disadvantages......
I used NVivo for my data analysis exactly what do you need to know? The only cons I would have is that it is confusing to use. You can autocode but that is something I did not like because it dragged in a lot of random words and coding In-Vivo was something that I did not care for because each node (code) had to be exact.
The pros is that as you are choosing your nodes (codes), it automatically does magic in the background by creating your charts and grafts and you can select how you want them to look. Once you learn how to use it, it is like a kid in a candy store. It is a lot of fun.
NVivo is very effective to conduct robust qualitative data analysis.
At first it might be a steep learning curve - but practice makes perfect - and once you've mastered how it operates, you'll love it - I highly recommend.
1. If you have the audio recordings, you can upload them to the Nvivo and do the coding
2. If you can transcribe the audios, then you can use the interview transcriptions for coding (I highly recommend this method)
3. Attend to all spelling and grammar mistakes if you are going to perform word frequency analysis (data cleaning)
4. Unless you conducted structured interviews, don't go for auto-coding. Even if you go for auto-coding be careful about how you set your headings with exact titles and letters.
4. Then decide of which method you are going to use: thematic analysis, content analysis or grounded theory, because the coding should be done accordingly.
5. You can do open coding, focused coding and Axial coding which will allow you to develop a word tree diagrams, child-parental node figures, coding spectrums (which can be used in data presentation)
6. You can use the "query" function to search for keywords, patterns, word cloud analysis etc.
Once you learn it, you will love it. @Law Chong Send
