Does anyone know about the microplate reader Hidex Sense #425-301? Is it a robust equipment? Is it better than GloMax Discover System from Promega? Any ideas would be great.
I have used different plate readers from different manufacturers (Wallac, ThermoFisherScientific, Berthold Detection Systems, Titertek, Hidex, Labrox, PerkinElmer, Promicol) during the last 20 years for different purposes. I have also used Hidex Sense for ATP biomass measurements, hygiene monitoring and environmental monitoring (toxicity tests with Vibrio fischeri). The Promega GloMax I have not used. Therefore my answer is: yes, the Hidex Sense is robust and it is very easy to use. Is it better than Glomax, I do not know. Both systems have features that make most of the users very happy but it should also be expected from the high end products.
In my opinion one the best plate readers which I used till now is Molecular Devices SpectraMax M5 Plate reader. You can use it for many applications (OD, fluorescence, luminescence). You can measure reaction kinetics as well.
