Kindly help me with following
1.Can we create a concentrated load by creating a reference point and making it "active" in analysis.If so how to make a reference point active in analysis.
2.Or we will have to create two partitions and their intersection will give the concentrated load point.
3. I 'am not able to create intermediate partitions so as to create an artificial edge which can be used as intermediate hinge / roller supports

Dear Bm, do not simulate the concentrated load or reaction by point load. It is better to use patch load using the actual area of either the loading plate or support plate in order to avoid singularity problem. You can use fine mesh at these region.

Perhaps its is better to defini this point as a node af the meshing. Its is simple after that to apply the concentrated load
As explained above, or you may use steel plate with high value of elastic modulus and then distribute the load on it.

1. Reference points are nodes which can be used in many different ways, but you have to connect them to your structure somehow. This can be done with constraint equations or connector elements.
2. The first answer is highly relevant. Use a patch load. In order to do so you need a partition.
3. You can create partitions either on your parts or on your assembly. If you do it on the assembly, the order of geometric entities within the instances of your parts may not be reproduced correctly: better to partition your parts. Partitioning can again be made in many ways. I am certain that you will find tutorials on the internet which can guide to a solution of your problem.
Finally, do take some time to familiarize yourself with the ABAQUS manual.

Try to make ur model in parts in such a way that ur loading and support condition at the junction i.e. Joint of ur parts.and then apple loding on that joints and give constraint as rigidly fix type of any constraint or element available in abaqus.
1.To make a RP , just go to Tools-Reference Point when you are in the Assembly module. But you need to know the co-ordinates of the point.
If you are not sure of the co-ordinates , just create a point offset from another point and you can make the newly created point as a Reference point.
You can apply Concentrated load from a RP.But you need to apply tie constraint or MPC between the RP and the point on the object where you wish to apply load.
