Is it possible to determine the antibacterial minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) using a liquid inhibition assay (MIC) with Lysogeny broth medium instead of Mueller-Hinton broth? If so, is there a validated protocol?
Mueller-hinton is an general medium, non-selective and non-specific medium allowing to grow almost all bacteria. Absence of inhibitors and the better diffusion properties of Muller-hinton makes the common choice for MIC studies. The MIC studies can be performed on other media but for reporting you have to have these results in the Muller-hinton medium.
