My current project is about optimizing school bus routes (SBRP), with a main aim to reduce overall bus traveling time, and a limit of 30 or less nodes per bus route. Upon reading previous papers, I came up with the conclusion that either GA or ACO is suitable, however I can't distinguish which one to use, seeing as how some papers even create a hybrid of the two for better results.
Heuristics have advantages and disadvatages. You must look to your problem and see which one is the most suitable to your data.
Generally, the modeling process of ACO to routing problems is quite direct. Mabe you will find some differences on performance.

The hybrids are frequently an attempt to solve some of the issues that both heuristics suffer from: difficulties in finding the optimal parameter setting and premature convergence.
Applying ACO to a routing problem is usually quite simple, and given that it seems that your problem instances are not big, I would expect that using ACO with a good local search algorithm would yield good results.
Select any optimized algorithm based on the nature of the problem especially the parameter will be optimized
i think the ACO has many features than GA, you can apply ACO
