Hi,

I'm a masters student struggling with the design of my cognitive psychology project.

We wish to run an experiment where we examine false memory recall using a list of schema related nouns in a future planning task x 2. So the future planning of two different scenarios. One that is realistic i.e. planning a holiday and one that's unrealistic i.e. robbing a bank. When they're imagining the scenario they write down the list of words they would use from planning the holiday (the lists will have words that are related and unrelated). Then they have a recognition test after some distraction task. The recognition task will include lure words that were not included in the previously studied lists.

We are thinking of a within-subjects design so is this a 2x2 ANOVA with repeated measures or a paired samples t-test?

I have been reading the text book for days and just cannot decipher the rules!

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Ruth
