The corporate giant Amazon prints, sells books, as well as e-copies by authors; all around the globe. According to the contract Amazon sells products in US dollars, Euro and British pound and gives a certain percent of the sale to the authors in cheques, whenever any denomination reaches 100 units. My first book in Amazon website appeared in February, 2012. I got my first cheque of $100.00 (US) in that year and the number of cheques kept increasing in subsequent years as I added two more titles, until 2020; after which not a single payment have been made, even though another title was added in June 2022.

I can see that my books are being sold through many Internet websites, including through a twitter account from Japan. Even Amazon is selling copies of my books at very low discount prices, as the following link would indicate. https://www.amazon.com/Dialectical-Universe-Some-Reflections-Cosmology/dp/9840414445/ref=sr_1_1?qid=1688406163&refinements=p_27%3ADr.+Abdul+Malek&s=books&sr=1-1

So, why no more revenue is coming to me, the author? When asked Amazon gave the following standard answer: “Our customers helped us take the fight to scammers last year by reporting suspicious emails, texts, and phone calls. Each report matters. In 2022, we made significant strides to protect our customers: We initiated takedowns of more than 20,000 phishing websites and 10,000 phone numbers that were used as part of impersonation scams.”

It is not that, I am writing books for business or to make money; is in only my secondary aim. But why shouldn’t I benefit from from my works?
