I will start my PhD thesis and I am confused between two ideas and I want your advice based on the most needed in the field of scientific research, deep learning techniques will be used:
The first idea: Early detection of Alzheimer's disease.
The second idea: Early detection of lung cancer.

Early detection of Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases is imperative for there to be any successful prognosis. We still cannot identify these diseases at the most important (early) stages.
Work on microglia and astrocytes is providing some new insights into the build up of intracellular and extracellular proteins and their influence on cell damage. Some very interesting work on the lymphatic system is also insightful.
This is one of the most pressing problem for the future of medicine with a huge increase in neurodegenerative disease incidence in the last 20 years.
