I' m working on the toughness estimation of the weld metal in the case of a FCAW welded HSLA steel. On the fracture surfaces of Charpy specimens (notch is on the weld metal), the following topography is obtained. The main problem is that i cannot understand is the globular-like clusters are a result of the agglomeration of non-metallic inclusions inside the weld metal or they are corrosion products formed after the fracture??

Additional information:

-EDS analysis is not available

Such globular agglomerations are not present inside the surface of the broken base metal specimens.

-The toughness of the weld metal is lower than the respective of the base metal
