I did make cellulose aerogel from pineapple fibers. The materials were immersed in the water with PVA. After sonication about 10 minutes, the mixture was put out. I saw some fibers which had been dispersed before in the solvent now were agglomerated. Why this happened? I thought the sonication help the dispersion better.

Generally speaking, sonication helps the dispersion. But in your case, the materials have many hydrogen groups on their surface. So sonication actually facilitates the gelation process. You can search research papers about sonication induced gelation.
