I am working on a shell and helically coiled tube heat exchanger with laminar flow through the shell and turbulent flow through the coil tube. I have performed iterations for coil by selecting different types of turbulence models but in each case, energy starts to diverge after some iterations (images attached).
What is the possible reason for this?
It is not easy to determine. It may be a problem with the mesh or boundary conditions. If not, check out the underexations factors.
There could be many possibilities for this:
1. There might be some issue with your boundary conditions.
2. Model mesh isn't perfect.
3. Your energy might need some more iterations i.e. 10k-30k to converge.
4. Incorrect model inputs.
I think it may be due to BCs. Can you please your problem in detail, so that I may help you in diverg. Issue

The flow through the shell is laminar with Reynold's number of 900 and a temperature of 288K while the flow through the coil is turbulent with Reynold's number of 6000 and a temperature of 333K. The material of the coil is copper. The thickness of the coil wall is 2 mm.
