We have published several articles to strengthen the methodology of Action Research.
From those associated with doctoral programs (PhD, DBA, Ed.D., D.S.Sc, etc.), it would be useful to know whether or not Action Research is included in your curriculum.
If it is, details about what is taught and how is it taught would be greatly appreciated.

Interestingly, no, all universities that I have worked for supervising doctorate students, all reject the proposal for action research. Some give excuses it does not produce scholarly data or new theories, it only reviews a workplace project. However one university disguised action research into a special doctoral program which they called an industry case study project.

Yes I used Action Research as part of my doctoral methodology. Since then I have continued to use it in my work as a practitioner. Published the attached short piece as an Action Research case study.

Action research is not a specific requirement in my program. CBPR is more popular of an approach that you hear faculty talk about, rather than action research. All I have learned about action research in a course is rather surface-level with definition and broad characteristics, rather than the "how to".

For many years I thought that "Action research" is the same as "Collaborative research", "Praxis research", etc. - what Brazilian researcher Freire has defined and implemented in research of the marginalized communities in order to improve their situation, that is to "go out" of the critical living (work, etc.) into the satisfying and social exclusion neglecting situation by participating in these communities actively with their knowing and understanding that this researcher is participating in order to help them. Am I right with this explanation? Or else - we can call almost every social research as "Action research". Please, let us begin to define....

Yes, Robin, Action Research is very well suited for professional doctorates.
Growing numbers of CityU DBA students are applying the methodology based on the articles that Robert Davison and I have published. Several have successfully completed their research and received their DBA degrees. Many other AR-based projects are in progress. Our bottleneck is willing and able supervisors/mentors.

Personally feel that it is important to make doctoral students AWARE of different methods so that they can subsequently CONSIDER and EVALUATE them for their own research. Do others agree?
This would be similar to the funnel concept that marketing folks use to first make consumers aware of their product or service.
