I was trying to regenerate my HisPur Cobalt beads, however they were not kept in ethanol, which lead to some growth. I decided to deal with this by adding 0.5 M NaOH, however I did that before adding EDTA to the beads to strip them from the cobalt. They turned purple and after the regeneration process the color went almost back to normal (a bit darker than usual). However when washing the beads with 0.2 M EDTA the cobalt metal did not get stripped from the resin, I guess it reacted with the NaOH creating an insoluble cobalt salt. I‘ve tried treating the resin with acid (0.1 M HCl and 1M HAc, which are compatible with the resin according to the manual) and treating with EDTA afterwards but that does not strip the beads from the cobalt. How should I save the beads? I’ve got 30 ml of resin and I don’t want it to go to waste. Thank you so much in advance for your help.
