According to your ideas, is a medical doctor a PhD or equal to PhD, are all medical doctors have PhD. If MD holder can become faculty (Assistant prof in college of medicine or other health college without PhD?
I received my Ph D degree from a health University of Government of West Bengal, India, though I am basically a graduate of Veterinary Science, having Masters degree from one national institution of Government of India and qualified in National Eligibility Test. Eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D programme
1.A candidate who has obtained Master’s degree or equivalent Post Graduate degree recognized by corresponding regulatory bodies in various disciplines of Basic sciences, Medical sciences, Dental sciences, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Nursing, Paramedical and Allied Health scienceswith at least 55% marks in aggregate.
a) 2 years of continuous approved experience after obtaining post-graduate degree in academic or research related work in relevant field in state/ national/ government R&D institute/ accredited laboratories etc.
b) Demonstrated research experience in the form of first or second authorship in 2 publications in peer-reviewed /indexed/ national/ international/ refereed journals (if the candidate is second author, first author must be his research guide or supervisor).
c) Presented at least one paper in national/ international workshop/ seminar/ conference etc.
2. Applicants with M.B.B.S. or equivalent degree in other allied health sciences with excellent academic record with minimum 55%marks in all professional examinations may be considered eligible to pursue Ph.D programme in health sciences with the following requirements:
a) 3 years of continuous approved experience in academic or research related work in relevant field in state/ national/ government R&D institute/ accredited laboratories etc.
b) Demonstrated research experience in the form of first or second authorship in 3 publications in peer-reviewed / indexed/ national/ international/ refereed journals (if the candidate is second author, first author must be his research guide or supervisor).
c) Presented at least one paper in national/ international workshop/ seminar/ conference etc.
So, without having any master degree also medical graduates can apply for Ph. D. if he/she is having other qualifications.
