The Codex Alimentarius or "Food Code" was established by FAO and the World Health Organization in 1963 to develop harmonised international food standards, which protect consumer health and promote fair practices in food trade.
Codex guidelines, standards and recommendations only provide a template for laws, which effectively acts as the arbitrator in any global trade dispute, as the internationally agreed benchmark.
Is it really for the protection of the consummers? The CAC is stating the production of meat (both animals and poultry) by the use of hormones and antibiotics. What about the use of hormones and antibiotics in meat and milk production?. what about GMO and what about pesticides ? what about food additives? we are a consummer protection Organization and we are really aware about the CAC standards and regulations.
