Hello everyone,

I am having a struggle with the optimization process of Tosca through abaqus.

I simulate a kind of spring. It is a long plate for which one extremity on the other 2 plates apply load in a single direction.

The problem is relatively simple. All dof are blocked in the first step except the displacement along y(+pressure application in the direction freed), then second step with the z direction freed (second pressure applied). Then I look at the displacement of the blue point belonging to the spring. It is this displacement that I want to optimize. I want for the same force to translate the point along -z. So basically reduce the load along z of my spring.

I used the Tosca Topology optimization to resolve this problem. My design response is the displacement along z.

However I noticed that the displacement that I measured (-0.6mm) and the displacement of the 0 step of the optimization process (-4.7 mm) are not the same. And I do not understand why, the problem is that the target is not good anymore... I noticed that the young modulus is already changing at step 0...

Morevover I notice that a pseudo step has been created in the process and apply a load on the point where I want to measure the displacement.

Could you help me understand those 2 problems. To help me optimize this simple design

Thanks in advance
