I am trying to implement a user-defined contact interaction in Abaqus using the VUINTER subroutine. I can see that similar to (V)UMAT subroutines for material behaviors, the subroutine supports state variables (STATEV or depvar in .inp). However, putting in field output requests for SDV does not output the state variables for the subroutine. SDV field output has been instrumental in troubleshooting the subroutine in my experience of developing (V)UMAT subroutines. If anyone knows how to field output the state variables for the subroutine I would be very grateful.

In the last section "Output". UINTER subroutine supports output of solution dependent variable through SDV. (Selecting SDV in CAE will put it under element output, you need to modify the .inp file and put SDV under contact output) VUINTER and VUINTERACTION state variables cannot be output to odb nor fil. Quite unfortunate since I need to use the Explicit solver.
