That's certainly not usually the case with many scientists (there are of course exceptions), even some of great renown in their own field, when it comes to the academic discipline of philosophy; they don't have a deep enough understanding of even the basic issues and either dismiss philosophy out of hand, or else have naive views that they think are insightful but are actually sophomoric.
