Though time spent with family is difficult to quantified but spend appreciable hours with my family daily when not on traveling. Assist with home work, watch cartoon and take dinner together.

My rule at work is very simple. Family always comes first. The amount of time per day varies over time but every member of my family knows that i will be there for them in a heartbeat if they ever need me. The kids have grown surrounded by love and learned life’s Lessons to help them grow. They are very close to each other.

Balance is very difficult but we must try.

Interested

It is not easy to reconcile family life and professional life is why we must make a choice because we can not succeed both at once

I do my best to make a balanced pattern of being with family and being busy researching and studying. it depends; some time I am successful to do it but not always.

In fact there is enough time to be spend it at home with my family, and I'm always all time try to equipoise between my work and my family, but unfortunately the bulk part of this time is gone to the work.

Meal time mostly

In my view work-life balance is very necessary to maintain things going in smooth way

2-3 hours, sometimes less.

My family is first and then other jobs such as teaching, research and extension. In my family wife, two daughters , Father, Mother and Brother and his wife all are my family members. I spent time whenever free time available from busy schedule. All my family members are happy then I work@ wholehearted and enjoy the satisfactions of job.

As my colleagues, I do my best to make a balanced pattern of being with family and being busy researching and working on projects.

To balance your professional and personal life gets tough, no doubts whatsoever in this. But, it is actually all about your priorities in life.

Most of the morning time i work at the college , then i stay with my family in the evening .

The family is the first responsibility. Balancing and arrangement with priority for the family.

It Is not easy, but I do my best to make balance of being with my family at evening and busy with researching and teaching.

On work days, most of the time is devoted to college. Preparations for the courses I teach, arking assignments, doing office work and coming back home late in the afternoon. I only have time to sit with the family in the evening and on holidays and the weekends.

Achieving a balance between personal and work life can take time and effort, but it will undoubtedly greatly affect your happiness and success.

I set aside a time when things are quiet between 11 pm and 2 am for research and writing.

Your question really made me think really how much time I spend with my family .

Most of my off duty time is spent at home , I generally spend all my time with my family though the facebook , whatsapp email and net search at home has invaded on the family time .

Yet it helps us keep in touch with larger family and friends ( most of them Professional- classmates and ex-students ).

I don't have a maid at home and all the work is done by all the family members together( cooking , cleaning , washing and arranging the cupboard etc). We plan together , work together , now since the children have grown the play is decreased but try to involve in all the activities that the children are interested in eg Cooking a new recipe or working on craft project .

We generally eat the dinner together enjoying the TV serials along with it .

As I reach home take stock of how everyone has spent their day ,we also plan for the next day especially everybody's time table

I Try to spend some extra time with my 83 year old mother , being a nurse dressing her wounds and talking especially to her for some time.

Family first, and the research or service of faculty is achieved by consistent 'Research' and publications 'Quantitative' and 'Qualitative' in principle

Never ignore the family. We should also be a good manager to manage all the things.

I understand that family comes first and has no schedule. That means that work is done 8 hours a day and in the University. Outside and with no limits (when someone is ill, or you are need to help), time is for the family.

In management we like to quantify everything, but this is one of the many variables of daily life that it´s impossible to quantify

Every professional personnel not only researcher for teachers remain busy but professional medical personnel, surgeon ,leading advocates , or so to say even writer have to remain busy for carrying out their contributory performance .

All such personnel including researcher /teachers have to draw a line of demarcation for the family including for the children development .Whatever may be our line of action we can not afford to neglect the family as they are our basic end of creating happiness for us .

Dr Hamid Gadouri , no matter how busy we are with life and career. We must ensure that we have adequate time to spend on our family. "Family First"

we all devoted to our work-teaching health care and research and later on are involved in administration also. But in order to keep in order to ensure good social & mental balance we all devote considerable time to family also. it depends sometimes we spend more time with family but depending upon demand we also devote time to our academic & research activities also. we all get inspiration from our family to dedicate ourselves to our Profession work also

There can't be a rule of thumb.

Personal and professional life need to be balanced but that really becomes hard often. So Some quality time (may not be in quantity) spent with family daily can gear up and refresh us as well which is also necessary for good mental and social health. After all family is a great support system even for professional field directly or indirectly. So I try my level best.

Very limited time over the weekends

A successful teacher/researcher has to secure good amount of time for the family . By doing so , he/she will secure a solid platform for innovative research.

On an average 4 to 5 hours

As much as the family needs: God first, family second, career/education third.

This depends on the quality of family relations. When everything O.K. at home and you enjoy common love and mutual attention and respect, you manage anyhow despite all your teaching and administrative load, to spend more time with your family. In there is permanent war at home, you escape your home to workplace at any pretext.

This begs the question: if you spent more time with your family rather than using your escape route, then might you be inclined to repair the relationship? Personal accountability and time management seem to be integral rather than simply avoiding unpleasant situations, and others before self says much. Amazingly, when consideration for others' feelings are before self, then there is always enough time for all. Make it a great day, and thank you for the discussion!
