usually new researchers aren't aware of the actual meaning or impact of the factors they are measuring in its original essence. so they should be given opportunity to experience that being part of some professional organization to get an idea to its true meaning.
If we adopt participatory observation method, it will some extent helpful.
Hi, I think that they can make observation and make interviews, or distribute questionnaires. However, being involved in the institution can give better practical vision.
It would be helpful to both the reearcher and the organization if tehre is collaboration and the results are mutually beneficial. Confidentiality, ethics, etc. should be carefully considered and appropriate permissions obtained before the PhD resercher publishes a paper derived from this experience.
