Can anybody recommend a good multi-parameter portable meter? I will measure dissolved oxygen, pH, ORP, conductivity, and temperature (in surface water and groundwater). I used to use WTW 350i, but it seems that a whole bunch of new types are available... any hints?
I have used a YSI-650MDS and it is very good. You can also see simpler probes of YSI since you want measure few environmental variables.

P.S. An advice to you...no matter what sort of instrument you use to save time and to measure variables in large number samples, you should always rely on analytical methods for the estimation of hydrological variables. May be once you have done enough such analyses you can establish a correction factor to be employed on the data procured through the usage of such instruments. And even is you do opt for testers, do not go for multi-parameter ones; its a lot wiser to use specific testers for a single or a related set of variables/parameters for a more accurate data.

I highly recommend Hach HQ40D Dual Input Multi-Parameter. We checked results using this probe by measuring conductivity in situ and then collecting water samples from the same location and testing for conductivity. Our in situ results were very close to the lab results.
HACH HQ40D is very reliable and convenient device. The DLO system does not require maintenance during the life of the LDO caps, and their service life is significantly longer than 2 years declared by the manufacturer. I have in experiment in aquariums sensors continually work in for 4 years.
I had used complete kit from Hach basically for qualitative study of river water. This was then permanently procured by us for students.
I use some of the Hanna instruments multiparametric devices for some years ago. They are perfect for work with groundwaters and surficial waters, also in extrem conditions (I have used in hypersaline and extrem acidic waters with perfect results). Here you have one of the best, but you can change the probes in convenience and also they have the posibility to use an internal GPS for convenient location of each point of mesure
