Our lab prepared metal sulfide nanoparticles incorporated MOF. Upon heat treatment MOF was converted to metal oxide as confirmed from PXRD pattern. But no peaks were observed for metal sulfide. Is it possible that the metal oxide prepared from MOD heat treatment can hide the peaks of metal sulfide nanoparticles?
Depending on the processing temperature it might have also just decompose and form oxide as well. Did you do it in air?
You don’t say what the metal is so that one can gage the difference between oxide and sulfide by XRD. Notwithstanding this, then the sulfide may be in too low a percentage (e.g. 0%) to be seen by XRD. If you’ve roasted the system in air then all the sulfide could be oxidized out/removed as stated by Michal Hegedus by Muhammad Asim Farid
That depends on what metal you used for your sulfide, e.g. FeS is notorious for being difficult to identify in XRD (in addition to being oxidation prone)
