I tried codepositing Sn and Cobalt onto copper substrate. EDS data shows that the substrate has 60%Co-40%Sn (wt%). however the XRD has no peaks from Sn, Co or its alloys.
What is EDAX? For what does the "A" stand?
Could you show the XRD measurement? Which radiation did you use?
There is no technique called EDAX... it is EDX. EDAX is a "materials characterization systems provider" or you mix the EDXAS and EXAFS :)
And the deposited film of SnCo can be amorphous (not sure for your composition of 60/40), XRD will show the broad peak
ok, it is not amorphous... just found your data.. So, that peaks are from substrate? have you check this?
yes they are from Cu substrate except those with less intensity around 30 degrees.
if the Cu refelctions are removed there is only a small peak at around 30 degrees.
i tried depositing galvanostatically at various current densities for the same bath condition.
with increasing current densities peaks from Co3Sn2 and CoSn and Sn started to appear. does that mean whatever the phases present in deposit at low current densities are meta stable?
