Dear Researchers
I have synthesized gelatin stabilized ZnIn2S4 nanocrystals, I have obtained XRD patterns which is different from its bulk cubic and hexagonal phases. I assume there is some shift due to nanostructure. However i couldn't assign the patterns even though I spent a lot of time looking at many literatures. Can you please assist?

There are some other phases of ZnIn2S4 are reported. I would like to suggest you to check the trigonal phase of the material having the lattice parameter 3.85 3.85 37.06 90.0 90.0 120.0 along with the space group R3m (160). You may check other phases on

Also, the peaks are looking too broad which may be the convolution of two or more peaks rather than the nature of nanocrystallinity. Have you maintained the sample height ratio to the sample holder while observing XRD?

Bandna Bharti Harshit Agarwal Thank you for your responses. However The links that you have sent were not opening in my browsers. I am not familiar with the space groups. However i compared the patterns with the trigonal structure as suggested. But stills the peaks are still not exactly matching, Please see the picture. Thank you

Also, I would like to suggest you to refine the XRD pattern with suggested lattice parameters. I have prepared a video for the refining process. Kindly check that:

You may also calculate the lattice parameters using DICVOL or ITOs method manually.
