In some cultures it is a common practice to treat wounds with lime as a disinfectant. I couldn´t find any scientific evidence for the use of citrus fruits on wounds. Does anybody of you know literature concerning the usefullness or effects of citrus fruits in connection to wound treatment.

This is rather original method of wound desinfection. As many traditional medicine methods it looks unuseful. because:
1. Citrus fruits and especially limes have acid taste because it contains concentrated organic acids (mostly lemon acid). So first of all concentrated citrus fruit juice will cause coagulation of wound tissues and chemical burn.
2. It must be very painful for patient.
3. Concentration of acids possibly could pathogenecally increase acidosis in the wound, but nobody tries to do it.
4. Some pathogen bacteria like acid environment of the wound
5. In case of Clostridium Defice such desinfection looks unuseful
6. In cases of lacerated wounds primary surgical dissection will be more uceful.
Yes! I already did some tests on lime juice and it’s antibacterial effects. But I’m searching for literature on it. Evidence base of its effects.

It is a huge mistake to think that wound healing is affected by what you put on it. The factors that are involved are 1) Arterial supply - the reason that many wounds on legs don't heal is because of peripheral arterial disease. 2) swelling - the reason that wounds on the face heal so quickly is that there is no swelling but wounds on legs frequently don't heal because of swelling which increases tissue tension. Infection is not an issue and we have to stop treating all wounds with antibiotics because we then just produce multi-resistance

You HAVE to stop thinking that wounds are something that will heal if you put some magic potion on them......it will never work because they are always due to some pathological process which is the thing that needs fixing!
