Why not do sequencing? It is convenient and accurate. You even don't need to extract the DNA from it, just use some direct lysis buffer and then run a PCR with LR0R/LR05 or other primer set.
I recommended to sequencing it genome and then run multiple sequence alignmment with standard and nearly identified species, then it is possible to discoverd the new part of genome sequence that may be a light spot to confirm it as a new species.
The macroscopic and microscopic morphology give resemblance to Trichophyton sp.You can use molecular tool to identify this dermatophyte. In case, you do not have molecular facility in your laboratory, you may please do slide culture and make wet mount preparation in PHOL or Narayan stain for detailed microscopic morphology of the culture. Both the fungal stains are developed by us in 1990 and 1998,respectively.You can find my several papers of mycotic infections on Research Gate.I have also authored a book on "Veterinary and Medical Mycology" which is published by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi, India.
