I definitely agree with dear Dr.Joanna and Dr beemnet point of view , but would like to add another point, As I have used a lot from others help by their papers , I would like to join in this positive circle and help others probably one day by my paper and also help to rescue the environment by my finding! not to sell it or keep it as patent.
My first and foremost real purpose of writing a research paper is to communicate my findings inclusive of my own interpretation, evaluation or argument, or experiences or technologies or techniques so that others will use the innovation to solve related problems easily. The other purpose of writing a research paper includes but not limited to:
To update my self with the science
To fulfill the requirements of promotion in my institution
To enrich my CV for better positions and further educations
For me, writing of research paper/ review paper etc. have NO relationship with my carrier.
I perform a little research almost completely with my own personal expanses. I publish the findings of the research to inform the scientific community.
I desire to contribute to the universal body of knowledge in my discipline, especially by bridging the gap created by the dearth of scholarly ideas which caused a stunt on the growth of the (tourism development) discipline in my country.
Writing a research paper or review reflect our need to do the kind of good work. In the general objective from writing paper that you increase the level of your carrier, because I'm needing of paper to expose my Ph.D without paper I can't obtain my Ph.D, after that I need paper to pass in grade. With the passing of the time writing a paper will be a gate to make some relationship with my colleagues in the others countries to the knowledge of my work and my ability to resolve some problems in research.

My approach uses two levels of research writing: level one is a radical and fundamental synopsis of applicable knowledge in a specified field of human practice; level two is a creative and logical composition of a new research perspective, for practical and professional applications. Theory is methodically the aerial line towards a destination, but in empirical practice we are pedestrians and detours are not avoidable. Science should be re-connected to life and include the real human experience.
Writing is the surest way by which we can expose ourselves to public criticism . The main purpose behind writing a paper is to let others know how you think about a particular reality . Very often, we may be wrong in our interpretations and judgments. A research paper , therefore, can serve as a reflective resource whereby we share our information with the others to see how far off we have been from our personal predictions concerning the truth or falsity of a given reality.
To share our writing whether a research paper or any of our contemplate it is absolutely essential to know the writer to whom we also know & experience & share our views in this line if we have with him a positive line of action than we may share our writing but generally we should keep our own writing with ourselves as it is our own satisfaction & it s the tune of our mind & heart .
Very good question Prof Mahesh. Here are my answers:
1. I am not into teaching or research, so its not a requirement for me to write research papers. Most of my research papers originate from my work - attempting to conceptualize day-to-day experience. I also avoid publishing, except on ResearchGate, as I do not wish to go through all the formal structures that are required for publishing.
2. When I see a lot of junk being put-out as Research papers, it annoys me no end. I therefore publish to bring a practitioners and practical perspective to research.
3. Sometimes I am invited to conferences & seminars to present papers or speak. In such cases also, I put such work on RG, as it may be useful to other academics and researchers.
To contribute in my to the existing body of knowledge in my area of specialization. Informing the research community through scholarly publications. Also to get funding, grants(conferences among others) and promotion.

In recent time, my writings/articles are tailored toward contributing to improvement of the quality of lives of Folks living in the rural communities where people live on less than $ 2.00 per day, with focus on teacher quality, energy policies, renewable energy development and rural electrification.
Whatever be your motive, personal or otherwise, after completing your research work you should publish the results. A major channel of publication of results is as a research paper in a reputed journal so that maximum scientists get a chance to read it. Remember that new research is often based on the work of others. One may start where another scientist stopped.
Research workers bring out new ideas and information continually on various aspects of science. However, such research results, if not made available to the widest possible audience within a reasonable time are worthless. Therefore, after the completion of research projects, research workers must compile the results and publish them in scientific journals with interpretations and clear conclusions.
I need not emphasize that for a successful career in an academic or research institution, publications are necessary especially to get promotions. In fact, many institutions rate their scientists based on the number and quality of publications made out of research.
My real purpose of writing is to stay in the scientific discourse of my research field and to work on professional progress by exploring new frontier topics. One life-time is a short period for all these learning processes, so it is imperative to learn from the accumulated and time-tested wisdom of former generations, in science and in life.
Sharing research, a wider audience makes you more visible in your field. This helps you get cited more, enabling you to cultivate a stronger reputation, promote your research and move forward in your career. Sharing your article is an important part of research and it’s important to share.
Research results can be presented in a variety of ways, but one of the most popular—and effective—presentation forms is the research paper. A research paper presents an original thesis, or purpose statement, about a topic and develops that thesis with information gathered from a variety of sources.
I mainly write research papers for three basic reasons: 1) share my research finding, 2) academic promotion, and 3) increase visibility among institute colleagues.
