Dose anyone knows if polarization changing of the laser beam changes the x-ray source size. Doing the frequency multiplication changes polarization of the beam from P to S. and even if the beam is directed into the chamber using periscope with two different oriented mirrors then the polarization will change. Wonder if this in turn effect the source size?

Laser induced plasma is independent of the polarization of the incident beam.
So would it influence the angle of debris distribution as I have the highest debris particle size emitting at 45 degrees with respect to the target plane and the beam is S polarised with respect to the optical table.
The plasma ignition occurs after laser fluence threshold that is independent of polrization.
The interaction of laser pulse tail with plasma may change linear polarization of incident beam. The depolarization ratio may be measured in this case to attest the fact.
It depends on the irientation of your set up. S&P polarized light could couple into your initially formed plasma with parameters that are dependent on the polarization and plasma density. For example your initially formed plasma may not be dense so it may allow light S or P to enter its interior. But a dense plasma would be like a mirror and reflect light according to the usual preference for S and P polarization. This can all affect the plasma plume dynamics, i guess the size when cray is produced could also be alterred. So, in principle you should not assume polarization will have zero effect.

I guess you are right. It is seen that doubling the fundamental wavelength 1064nm to green 532, and tripling it to 533 UV does has an effect on the debris emission. As a fact doubling and tripling the the fundamental would change the polarization due to phase matching. So yes you are right we should not assume a zero polarization effect.
