chevil plant was grown under salinity stress from 1000 to 5000 ppm. I have found that osmolytes increase under control with salinity, whereras, its response is altered under same levels of salinity in response to sodium nitroprusside and jasmonic acids. Does these compounds have an effect on enzymatic actions which allows altering the increase of free amino acids and phenols.
Plants under salinity stress produces elevated amount of osmolytes to make the turgor pressure in the cell sap more negative. One explanation of your query could be - SNP when introduced to plants, increases the production of antioxidant enzymes; i.e. catalase, peroxidase, superoxide dismutase. Which in turn helps the plants to combat the elevated ROS production during salt stress, making them relatively more resistant to salinity or any other kind of abiotic stress .
