Hi everyone,

I'm currently working with 2 hydrogels using the photoinitiator Irgacure 2959 (I2959). The gels i'm using are Stearate-Modified Methylcellulose Acrylate (SMMA) and PLA-PEG-PLA Diacrylate.

My working concentrations of the gels are 5% (from a 10% stock - mixed 50/50 with the PI), and the concentration of I2959 that I'm using is 0.05%, which I've prepared by dissolving a stock solution of 0.5% over a weekend at 37%. I'm using a 365nm UV lamp to crosslink the gels (it's a lamp used for drying nails - link below), however I'm not getting any kind of crosslinking at all.

Does anyone have any suggestions/help?

I'm aware that the peak excitation of I2959 is much lower than 365nm, however every paper and protocol that I've read crosslinks at this wavelength, so I don't think that's the problem.

Thanks in advance!
