I've basically completed a few experiments during which my brittle samples (metal-ceramic composites) had a crack initiation far away from the centre of the specimen being tested during 3-point bending. I've read some literature on it but I'm still confused on the mechanism behind crack propagation and ultimate failure closer to one end of the TPB test as opposed to the centre of the specimen. Any help will be much appreciated
