On one hand, this comparison seems normal because fresh water, like oil, is in limited amounts on the planet. On the other hand, this comparison is meaningless because, unlike oil, fresh water is naturally recycled continuously and will always be available on the planet. What do you think ?
Several decades ago, water was taken for granted as drinking water was considered free Windows or extremely low cost. When companies started to bottle water for sale, and since water was so available at home of office, I had a hard time imagining who would buy it. With time, purchasing drinking water becomes a convenience to have a relatively safe, inexpensive and healthy drink. I think we have come to appreciate water, even spend funds to be sure our well or treated tap water is filtered or treated. I know many others are not so fortunate to be able to have access to safe water or be able to purchase it. But increasingly, drinking water is being considered a commodity with value, which under some circumstances can approach or exceed the value of oil. Of all the liquids to drink, quality water has to be the healthiest and best for our bodies.
Fortunately, free water is available from a drinking fountain or tap. The quality in some countries and even modern communities may be questionable. For many, bottled water is portable, affordable and quality is more reliable, and that has lead it to become a recognized commodity to be purchased in quantity - fuel for the body.
True, water is renewable and recyclable, but its availability in forms where it is drinkable as you find it is becoming less reliable. Even the backcountry, remote streams and springs I used to drink directly from in S Oregon and N California mountains are probably no longer as safe as they were. And the issues with Guardia and other contaminants are better known.
But who is to say that the natural waters might not be as or even more healthful, as the bottled water in plastic containers, expose to all sort of environmental conditions and storage.

Perhaps, because oil and water are two important elements of our lives.
Many experts believe that in the future potable water would be more expense and more difficult to find it than oil and even more important to keep the live on Earth.

Oil and water are the most used resources in our day to day activities. Given that our natural resources are depleting, it would be a unfathomable how one can live without both resources. Oil is very essential especially since today's society is very dependent on technological advancements. However, water is definitely something we simply cannot live without and comes with great importance especially with the alarming rate of decline in percentage of drinking water
